Farmhouse at Longstreet Farm Opens March 6

HOLMDEL--  On Saturday, March 6, the farmhouse located in Historic Longstreet Farm, Longstreet Road, Holmdel will open after being closed for cleaning and maintenance.  The farmhouse will once again be open for guided tours on weekends and holiday afternoons through December 31.  A living history farm, Longstreet Farm recreates life as it was in rural Monmouth County during the 1890s.  The farmhouse was the Longstreet family home from the late 1700s.  Although the original structure was built in 1775, additions have been constructed over the years.  The building is restored and furnished to appear as it may have in the 1890s.  The farm is open daily year round. Regular farm hours are 10am-4pm daily.  From Memorial Day through Labor Day, the farm is open from 9am-5pm.

The Monmouth County Park System is celebrating its golden anniversary of keeping the county green and livable, since the Board of Chosen Freeholders created the first county park in 1960. Today, the Park System has grown to over 30 sites totaling more than 14,500 acres and offers approximately 4,000 recreation programs and activities, making it the perfect place to come outside and play.
