HOWELL, NJ — With its promise of spring, March is a great time to enjoy the outdoors. The Monmouth County Park System has planned a slew of fun and free activities for area residents to enjoy. The schedule is as follows:
Frogs
Saturday & Sunday, March 6 & 7 at 12:30pm
Manasquan Reservoir Environmental Center, Georgia Tavern Road, Howell
Learn about these amazing animals during a brief discussion.
Music Man Rich Marzec
Sunday, March 7 from 1-3pm
Historic Longstreet Farm, Longstreet Road, Holmdel
Hear history come alive through music as Rich Marzec plays tunes from the turn-of-the-century.

Eagles and Eaglets
Saturday & Sunday, March 13 & 14 from 10am-4:30pm
Manasquan Reservoir Environmental Center, Georgia Tavern Road, Howell
Discover how bald eagles prepare for the nesting season.
Blacksmith Demonstration
Sunday, March 14 from 1-3pm
Historic Longstreet Farm, Longstreet Road, Holmdel
See what the blacksmith is making in his workshop.
Blowing in the Wind – Weathervanes
Sunday, March 14 from 2-3pm
Historic Walnford, Walnford Road, Upper Freehold
See the elegant leaping stag on top of the Carriage House and come inside to learn more about weathervanes. Afterward, make a simple one to take home.

Come see deer antlers and learn how they are shed and re-grown each season.
Kite Making
Saturday, March 27 from 12:30-2:30pm

Join the farm staff in making kites as it would have been done during the Victorian era.

The Monmouth County Park System is celebrating its golden anniversary of keeping the county green and livable, since the Board of Chosen Freeholders created the first county park in 1960. Today, the Park System has grown to over 30 sites totaling more than 14,500 acres and offers approximately 4,000 recreation programs and activities, making it the perfect place to come outside and play.
