Newsbrief - Local News

Written by press release Monday, 22 February 2010 07:19

HIGHLANDS, NJ - The Henry Hudson Boys Varsity Baseball Team will be traveling to Ft Pierce, Florida during Spring Break 2010 to play tournament baseball. This trip will be the first time the group will be playing out of State and all are looking forward to the trip.

Over the past few months, the team has been raising awareness of the trip and have held several fundraising events. With the help of the Henry Hudson PTO, SeaStreak LLC, Mr Tom Elliott, the Atlantic Highlands Lions Club and the Masonic Lodge, the young men have raised money that will be put towards their play and travel. The 18 players and 2 coaches are trying to raise enough money to cover the $20,000 round trip and play which will all be funded by donations and players. No school money is being used to offset this trip.

The latest fundraising activity is a spaghetti dinner scheduled for February 27, 2010 at the Masonic Lodge, 14 E. Garfield Avenue, Atlantic Highlands.  The dinner is an All-You-Can-Eat event with seating from 5 pm-8 pm. Cost is $8,  ages 12 and under only $5.  You may pay at the door.
